Adams County Conservation Board Logo

Adams County Conservation Board invites you to explore the outdoors of Lake Icaria, your Southwest Iowa recreation destination. The Conservation Board is located in Southwest Iowa and manages areas encompassing 2,151 acres of parks, wildlife, and recreation areas. The five main areas are Hamilton Prairie, Hoskinson Wildlife Area, Spring Lake, Talty Wildlife Area, and Lake Icaria. Lake Icaria was completed in 1978 and has grown into an outdoor recreation paradise. Its name was derived from a French colony that settled in the area. The cost of the project was shared by Federal, State, County, and City Governments. Conveniently located in Southwest Iowa it is 90 miles southwest of Des Moines, 90 miles southeast of Omaha/Council Bluffs, and 90 miles north of St Joseph making it the ideal weekend trip. The 650-acre lake provides all-day activities like fishing, water skiing, boating, tubing, hiking, camping, and hunting. Visit the MyCountyParks website now to make reservations at any of our Shelters, Campgrounds, Cabins, or Cottages.
