Board Minutes – November 9, 2021
The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Doug Birt, Scott Akin, and Merlin Dixon. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin moved, seconded by Shipley to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes from November 1, 2021. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Engineer Travis Malone updated the board on the Secondary Roads Department. The crew should finish up painting lines this week. They are getting ready to transition the trucks to winter weather.
Birt moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the quote from Stew Hanson for a 2022 Dodge Crew Cab DRW 4×4 Chassis 4500 series for $54,600 to be delivered in May for Secondary Roads. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Dixon moved, seconded by Akin to approve the claims as followed. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.

Birt moved, seconded by Akin to approve increasing the dispatcher/jailer pay rate for a Dispatcher Level 1 to $16-$20.50, Level 2 to $20.50-$22.50, and Level 3 to $22.50-$26.00. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board of Supervisors, under the authority of the 2021 Code of Iowa, formed a canvassing board to check the returns of the City/School held on November 2, 2021. The findings, thereof, are record at length in Election Book #8 in the Adams County Auditor’s Office as required by Section 50.27 of the 2021 Code of Iowa. No obvious clerical errors were identified during the canvass and there was one absentee ballot that was rejected and not counted due to incomplete affidavit. A total of 496 votes were cast in Adams County. Pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 50.22, 0 provisional ballots were received. The following were declared elected as follows:

The 2nd tier canvass for the Corning Community School District will be held on November 15, 2021.
Department Head Reports: Sheriff – Alan Johannes would like to do a sealed bid for the 2006 Crown Victory that has been used by the reserves. Auditor – Becky Bissell received a quote to install key fob security locks on the doors going to the Auditor office and to the election equipment room. There is a grant that is available from the Secretary of State for increased Election security that could be used for the project.

Akin moved, seconded by Dixon to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 am. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
