Board Minutes – November 22, 2021

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, and Scott Akin. Absent were Doug Birt and Merlin Dixon. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin moved, seconded by Birt to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes from November 15, 2021.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Engineer Travis Malone updated the board on the Secondary Roads Department. Hull St. Bridge is anticipated to be closed starting Dec 15 to start the bridge replacement project. Shipley moved, Akin seconded to approve Utility Permit 21-13 for Southwest Iowa REC on Adams Taylor by Denver Ave.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

            Discussion was held regarding the Court House renovations. The board is expecting a final survey from the Architects any day now.

            Discussion was held on the voted Ambulance Levy for EMS services. Akin asked if we should put that before the voters to see if they would rather have a levy and take the money out of our regular budget. EMA Director Bill Lyddon asked how you would divide that money up since you have multiple Ambulance/Rescue services in the County. The board was going to research it some more.

Akin moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the claims as followed. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Committee and Meeting reports were presented as follows:  Maynes – Crossroads, Nov. 15, Creston, and RCD, Nov 18, Creston; Akin – CHI, Nov 18, Corning, and Southern Hills, Nov 19, Corning; and Shipley – Main St, Nov 15, Corning.

Akin moved, seconded by Shipley to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
