Board Minutes – May 31, 2022

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Merlin Dixon, Scott Akin, and Doug Birt. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Birt and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin moved, seconded by Maynes to approve the agenda for the day along with the minutes of the May 23, 2022 meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Devon Wood, the Republican Candidate for State Representative District 17, introduced herself to the board of supervisors during the public comments and explained her reasons for running.

Karl McCarty updated the board on the Secondary Roads Department. He has received some quotes on leasing semis. The crew is hauling sand for the resurfacing project on Birch Ave.

Shipley moved, seconded by Akin to approve the of the Design Services Agreement with Calhoun-Burns and Associates for the replacement of the Prescott 2nd Street Bridge. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Shipley moved, seconded by Maynes to approve Utility Permit # 22-03 for SIRWA on Oak Ave in Section 9 of Colony Township. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Akin moved, seconded by Dixon to approve Brian Peterson as the rural resident to the Corning Library Board as recommended by Mayor Jan Leonard. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Akin moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the Solutions Licensed Code Support Agreement. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Akin moved, seconded by Maynes to approve the Schematic Design Fee for DCI Group and OPN for the Courthouse Renovation Project. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Department heads reports were presented. Treasurer – Holly Schafer shared the delinquent tax notice will be in the paper this week. EMA- Bill Lyddon shared the last Hazard Mitigation meeting is set for June 23, 2022 at 6:30 pm. Auditor – Becky Bissell shared the June 7th Primary Election is coming right up. In discussion of the election, a board member had a conflict with the scheduled canvass of the election on June 14, so the date was changed to Monday, June 13 at 1:00 PM.

The board reviewed Adams County Ordinances Chapters 6-10.

            Committee and Meeting reports were presented as follows:  Shipley – MATURA, May 24, Corning and Main St., May 26, Corning; Dixon – SCI911, May 25, Creston; and Akin – CHI, May 24, Corning, and CHI, May 26, Corning.

            Maynes moved, seconded by Akin to adjourn at 10:15 am.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
