Board Minutes – June 14, 2021
The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Doug Birt, Merlin Dixon and Scott Akin. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes. Akin moved, seconded by Birt to approve today’s agenda and to approve the minutes from June 7, 2021. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Birt moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the purchase of a rock retriever machine from Ziegler for $18,400 delivered to the Secondary Roads yard. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Akin moved, seconded by Dixon to approve the budget transfer Resolution 2021-13 of $553,544.26 from Rural Services to Secondary Roads Fund.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ADAMS COUNTY, IOWA:

You are hereby authorized as of June 14, 2021, to transfer as budgeted:
Five Hundred Fifty-Three Thousand Five Hundred Forty-Four Dollars and Twenty-Six Cents
From Rural Services 11000-10300-812-99
To Secondary Roads 20000-10300-9020-20
Voting Aye: Akin, Birt, Dixon, Maynes, Shipley. Voting Nay: None. Motion Carried. The above resolution is adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Adams County, Iowa. The original resolution is located in the Auditor’s Office.
Engineer Travis Malone gave an update on the Secondary Roads department. The bridge replacement on 180th is coming along. GovCo Construction has moved in to start the pile bent replacement of Carl 3 bridge on 110th St. west of the Middle Nodaway River. Malone is still working on a 28E agreement with the City of Prescott reimbursing the county for the bridge. By the end of June, Secondary Roads will have 50,000 tons of limestone rock applied. Mid-American Energy will need to do an Addendum to the 2020 Road Use Agreement due to additional work that needs to be done on the wind turbines.
Shipley moved, seconded by Dixon to approve Liquor License LA0000576 Williamson Post No 719. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Birt moved, seconded by Akin to approve the claims as follows. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.

Department Heads reports were given. Treasurer Nancy Barnes stated the County’s Tax Sale is Monday June 21, 2021. It is done entirely online and there is around $15,000 from last year due and $80,000 from this year due. Recorder Jamie Stargell stated she will be attending the Corning City Council public hearing for the UTV/Golf Cart Ordinance. IT Director Tom Williams updated the board on moving the county’s website to the .gov site as required for compliance with election laws. EMA Director Bill Lyddon informed the board the alert system is switching to a new platform effective July 1, 2021 and the old platform will be not available effective that date. Anyone wanting to switch to the new system can visit the county’s website for the link to sign up.
