Board Minutes – July 6, 2021

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, July 6, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Doug Birt, Merlin Dixon, and Scott Akin. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes. Akin moved, seconded by Birt to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes from June 28, 2021.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Engineer Travis Malone gave an update on the Secondary Roads department. The limestone rock is wrapping up this week. The Prescott 5 bridge on 180th should be ready to pour the deck on the 15th or 16th of this month.  Bridge Carl 3 on 110th Street all piling was on site late last week and driving will commence this week.  Some welds on the drop deck trailer have failed and the warranty will take care of replacing the failed part.  The manufacturer is replacing the entire part so it will be removed by pulling out the pins swapping out the part then reinstalling the pins with no welding required.   

Shipley moved, seconded by Birt to approve Utility Permit Application #12-08 for Terry Evans for culvert work on Chestnut Ave. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Birt moved, seconded by Akin to approve the Recorder’s Quarterly Report. All supervisors voted aye.   Motion carried.

Shipley moved, seconded by Dixon to approve Memorandum of Understanding with City of Corning regarding the city’s Golf Cart UTV Ordinance and participation by the Sheriff’s and Recorder’s Departments. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Birt moved, seconded by Akin to approve a three-year agreement for auditing services beginning FY 2021/22 with Anderson, Larkin and Co., P.C. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Treasurer Nancy Barnes submitted her resignation due to retirement effective July 30, 2021. Holly Shafer submitted a letter to be considered for appointment to the position.

Birt moved, seconded by Dixon to fill the vacancy of the Office of the Treasurer by appointment. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

Department Heads gave updates as follows: Treasurer – Working on Year End and Taxes and their office will be closed Tuesday July 13, Conservation – Had a busy weekend, Secondary Roads – Budget is sitting good with a good carry over, Recorder – Started issuing ATV Licensing, Auditor – Month End, Year End and cash balancing was completed, so now working on Taxes.

Committee and Meeting reports for presented as follows: Akin – ACEDC, July 2; Corning; and Maynes – Crossroads, June 28, Corning.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 14th at 1:00 pm due to the Adams County Fair.

Shipley moved, seconded by Dixon to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
