The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Doug Birt, Merlin Dixon. Scott Akin was absent. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes. Dixon moved, seconded by Shipley to approve today’s agenda with the addition of agenda item Approval on Addendum No. 1 to Road Use Agreement between Adams County, Iowa and Mid-American Energy Company dated April 20, 2020 and to approve the minutes from July 6, 2021. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Public Comments came from Jamie Stargell regarding the Battle of the BBQ which will be held on July-23-24 and that street closures will begin around the Courthouse on the evening of July 22. Parking around the courthouse on Friday, July 23rd will be limited.
Engineer Travis Malone gave an update on the Secondary Roads Department. Plan A for Birch Ave between new Highway 34 and old Highway 34 is a full depth reclamation with estimated costs around $600,000 and Plan B is a 1 ½” mill with a 4” overlay costing approximately $300,000. The bridge deck pre-pour meeting for the replacement of bridge Prescott 5 on 180th Street was this morning. The anticipated date for reopening the bridge is mid-September. GovCo Construction has driven the pilings on the east side of the 110th bridge and it’s coming along well.
Birt moved, seconded by Shipley to approve the Road Use Agreement with Rolling Hills Windfarm. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Shipley moved, seconded by Dixon to approve the Addendum No. 1 to Road Use Agreement between Adams County, Iowa and Mid-American Energy Company dated April 20, 2020. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Department Heads gave updates as follows: Treasurer – Office was closed for a District 4 meeting and received lots of good information. They are currently working on taxes. Sheriff – Received the bid on the charger that has damage from a deer collision.
Birt moved, seconded by Shipley to approve claims as presented. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
