The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 9:00 am with the following members present: Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Doug Birt, and Scott Akin. Merlin Dixon was absent. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Maynes and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Akin moved, seconded by Shipley to approve today’s agenda along with the minutes from August 16, 2021. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
Shipley moved, seconded by Birt to approve the Utility Permit #21-10 for SIRWA on 110th Street in Carl Township. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.
County Engineer Travis Malone gave an update on his department. The 180th Street bridge replacement bridge is coming along. Repowering permits are coming in for the wind turbines. Plans for asphalting next year are beginning.
Sheriff Alan Johannes introduced Jail Inspector Delbert Longley to share his guidance on renovation of the Law Enforcement area of the courthouse. His main concerns were the shared Jailer/Dispatchers positions, Classifications of inmates and the space to keep populations separated, and also the need to build a sally port.
Birt moved, seconded by Akin to approve the claims as follows. All supervisors voted aye. Motion carried.

Department Head Reports: Conservation – The Beach Bash on August 21 had a good turn out and people enjoyed the entertainment and the food trucks. IT- Found a decommissioned backup device that was still on our system, which is now unplugged making our network even more secure. Treasurer-Still collecting taxes and reported that only 14% of our tax collections are done online. Schafer pointed out that an EFT payment online charge for a customer is 25 cents, which is less expensive than a stamp to mail in the payments.
