Board Minutes – August 1, 2022

The Adams County Board of Supervisors met on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 9:00 AM with the following members present: Merlin Dixon, Bobbi Maynes, Leland Shipley, Scott Akin, and Doug Birt. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Birt and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Akin moved, seconded by Maynes to approve the agenda as amended for the day along with the minutes of the July 25, 2022, meeting.  All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.

City of Corning Mayor, Jan Leonard, invited the board along with anyone else to attend a townhall meeting with Michael Franken on Wednesday August 3 from 11:30-1. She also updated the board that the Droppit can redemption container should be in place this week and utilities will be hooked up soon. There will be some education opportunities for the public to learn how to use it, but everyone is excited to get it up and going.

Chairman Birt introduced Charles Bechtold, Adams County Engineer, to the rest of the board and to the Department heads. The Board is looking forward to working with Mr. Bechtold.

Auditor Bissell presented the Cash Report for Fiscal Year 2022. The full report is on the Department of Management’s website and the summary will be published in the Free Press this week.

Department Head Reports:  Conservation – Everything is going well. Some of their seasonal workers are starting to leave for school. Treasurer – Tax statements should be going out this week. Auditor – Completed the Cash report. Updated the board on the virtual site visit for the VOCA grant.            

            Committee and Meeting reports were presented as follows:  Akin – Main Street, July 25, Corning, and 5th Judicial, July 27, via Zoom; Maynes – Main Street, July 25, Corning and Crossroads, July 25, Creston; Shipley – Main Street, July 25, Corning and Loss Control, July 27, Corning; Dixon – SCI 911, July 27, Creston and Main Street, July 25, Corning.

            Dixon moved, seconded by Maynes to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 am. All supervisors voted aye.  Motion carried.
