Assistant to the Engineer

The Adams County Secondary Roads Department is seeking applications to fill the FT position of Assistant to the Engineer. This position, under the general direction of the County Engineer, is responsible for performing a variety of technical work associated with surveying, drafting, design, construction and inspection relating to secondary road projects.

Requirements: Pre-employment drug and physical testing; have, or be able to obtain within one year of employment, a valid Iowa CDL driver’s license; have, or be able to obtain within one year of employment, Iowa DOT certifications in Technical Certification and Construction Program.

This position requires good communication and organizational skills and the ability to establish a working relationship with co-workers, contractors and the public.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office Full-time and Part-time Dispatcher/Jailer

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is looking to hire a full-time and a part-time Dispatcher/Jailer. Full-time will start out at $18.00/hour, forty (40) hours per week, some weekends and benefits. Adams County Conservation Board Building Maintenance Technician

This is a permanent full-time position with full county benefits package.  Under the supervision of the County Conservation Board Director.  Job site located at the Lake Icaria Recreation Area, Corning, IA.  Varying responsibilities:  Develop and execute building maintenance program.  Capitol Project Oversight; Plan development, project management, contractor oversight, project budgeting, project permitting.  Perform routine maintenance of park areas, facilities, vehicles and equipment, and construct, remove, and repair facilities as needed.  Works with maintenance staff to perform such duties as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, mechanical, grounds upkeep, and custodial of restrooms, cabins and cottages.  Operate vehicles, tractor, and skid-steer and hand tools associated with park and building maintenance, development and repair.  Share in on-call rotation for snow removal and general maintenance/campgrounds/cabins/cottages throughout the season.   Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.  Supervise seasonal employees and volunteers as needed.  Permanent employment is conditional upon successful completion of six month probationary period. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Two year degree in Building Construction and Maintenance; or equivalent experience.  Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.  Valid driver’s license. Public pesticide certification or be able to attain certification within six months. 

SALARY:  $18.00—$20.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications) plus standard county benefits.
